How Do I Pull My Washing Machine Out?
Why Won't My Washing Machine Spin?
There can be a number of reasons for this and I will try and provide an overview.
Firstly, there is a difference between a machine that won't spin and a machine that won't drain. I hear "my machine won't spin!" when some customers associate water being left in the drum as not spinning.
Does your drum revolve? If it does then generally the machine will have some sort of drainage issue and I will come to that shortly.
If the drum does not revolve at all then there can be a few reasons for this and I will list them here.
Faulty motor brushes or motor itself. Brushes do wear down and can be replaced
Broken belt. Basically belts don't stretch but they can come off if the load is unbalanced! They can also break, but generally something else has caused it, a seized drum for instance.
Jammed drum, either jammed by an object or a seized bearing assembly. (Does the drum move freely?)
Broken Wiring
Printed circuit board faulty (the electronic control system)
An unbalanced load. Modern machines won’t spin if the load is for example a heavy rug or two large towels. Try padding the load out.
Why Won't My Washing Machine Drain?
Here are some of the most common causes.
The impellor (basically a little propellor that drives the water from the machine is jammed or not being driven) Get advice on checking your filter if the machine has one from your manual. Bra wires, coins, hair bobbles, golf tees etc....if left in pockets or not protected can block your impellor quite easily.
Faulty drain pump.
The printed circuit board is not telling the drain pump to turn. (basically the electronic control system).
Broken wire.
Blocked plumbing outlet, remove the machines drain hose and place it into a bucket and select the machines drain function. If it drains then you have an issue with the plumbing the machine is connected to.
.Top tips: check your pockets, put bras, small kids underwear and socks in a pillow case to wash and check your filter regularly.

Tumble Dryer
My Tumble Dryer Doesn't Work
Clean the condenser every month and wash it through, using a shower or hose pipe. A blocked condenser can return poor drying results from you machine.
Check the socket your machine is plugged into if there are no signs of power.
Clean the filter every time you use it.
Do not use your dryer on an extension lead. The extension lead can cause it to trip, they are dangerous and generally not up to the job.
The belt can break. This can be caused by over loading or a seized bearing or jockey wheel.

I need to Pull my Machine Out.
Need to remove your Machine from under a work Surface or its own
dedicated position?. Just remember that with Washing Machines, they
are usually very heavy due to the use of an internal concrete block
that works as a balance weight during machine operation.
So the watch word is Take Care, assess if you need someone to help
otherwise you might pull your back out, rather than your machine!.
First check what type of flooring the machine is on as it could get
damaged if you do not take precautions first – this is especially true of
Lino flooring as it can become brittle with age and easily tear.
You will need to drag the machine out of its position – so this can
mark flooring too – if in doubt use an old towel or cardboard sheet
underneath. Most food shops have spare cardboard knocking around
as they get lots or their food delivered in it (just ask nicely).
Card or towel needs to be spread to the width of the opening on the
floor, then you will need to gently push the machine’s top edge a little
backwards to raise the front feet of the ground (a machine usually has
adjustable feet at the front and sometimes rollers or wheels at the back).
This bit is a little tricky as you will need to keep the machine cleaning
backwards as you feed the card or towel underneath – be careful – if
you slip you could trap your hand under the machine. Sure you don’t
want to give that friend a call?.
The card or towel needs to go as far as it can underneath the front
feet whilst leaving enough of it in front of the machine to be able to
grab it and use it to help pull/slide the machine out.
Lower the feet down on to the card or towel and gently try and move
the machine forward, grab the sides and gently rock it whilst pulling
towards you. If no luck, open the door, hold by the top of the door rim
and gently pull towards you – hopefully this is all you will need.
If none of these work then you will need to grab the front edge of the
towel or card and tug on that to see if it will move the machine out of
its position.
Don’t forget that with a washing Machine especially, it will be
connected to wall mounted water inlet taps and you will have to close
these off before you remove the machine (you will also have to
connect the hoses and switch the taps back on when you put the machine back.)
Don’t forget to SHUT THE INLET TAPS OFF on the wall before you disconnect the hoses for the washer.
Also connect the hoses to the washer before you turn the wall taps back on (if you only have one inlet hose on the machine - it goes to the cold feed – blue tap
